The Continuation of the Hell that was 2020
If we thought 2020 was over, God were we wrong. As a black woman I try to stay away from writing about the race all the time; A. because I’m exhausted as fuck and B. It’s not going to change anytime soon. But the buffoonery that took place on the Capitol made me really think. America. . .really? It was disheartening to see the country falling apart in such a way that is truly a slap in the face to peoples of color who have been fighting, SINCE DAY ONE, for equality from true oppression. Granted, everyone is entitled to their own feelings and opinions. But taking over a government building is literally treason. Is that what true patriotism is?
As a nation, we need to do better. We have already be separated by race for hundreds of years, but the actions by those who Americans were appalling. We have to reevaluate what is important as this pandemic is still going on and people are literally struggling just to survive. We need to actually take care of Americans. The whole world is watching us at this point and our demise could mean their collapse as well.
At the end of the day, this is just a think piece. Do what you do. Believe what you believe. Just make sure you can live with your actions. Stay safe and one love.
